LEARN WHAT THE TRENDY AND FASHIONABLE CLASSIC MEN’S WARDROBE PIECES FOR FALL ARE.

The warm summer weather will soon fade away, and as the leaves begin to fall, we’ll usher in the new season. With the cooler temperatures of autumn comes a change in wardrobe. Tank tops get folded away until spring, and sandals are quickly replaced by boots. Though there are some classic pieces that are fashionable every fall, you should also pay attention to what’s trendy. From the runways to the sidewalks, let’s take a look at some of the hottest fall fashion trends for 2009 for men. And even if you are self-conscious about hair loss issues, you’ll feel confident and stylish in no time.

Men’s suit trends

Those ultra-skinny suits that don’t allow you to breathe are on their way out. Instead, select a suit with a classic, masculine silhouette. Pick a suit jacket with broad shoulders coupled with slim trousers. The double-breasted suit is perfect for business meetings and special events. A single-breasted, two- or three-button suit is ideal for almost any occasion.

In terms of color, navy and brown are always popular color choices for fall. But this season, gray is probably the most popular color in fashion. Pair a gray suit with a shirt in a purple shade. From lavender to plum, purple will definitely be a hit.

Look for suits in classic patterns such as houndstooth, herringbone, pinstripe and rope-stripe. These suits will give your look a bit of texture.

Military-inspired menswear

Many designers, including Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Burberry, have added military touches to their fall 2009 lines. Taking cues from combat uniforms and officer overcoats, military-inspired jackets, suits and boots are popular this fall.

The musketeer jacket (above right) is from Dolce Gabbana. It’s worn with distressed jeans – another popular trend for the fall season.

Fall textures

This fall, don’t be afraid to mix different textures in layers. Fall is all about texture, from faux fur coats to ribbed-knit sweaters and classic tweed to smooth cashmere.

This gray suit from the H&M Fall/Winter 2009/2010 lookbook (above center) offers a fantastic combination of textures, from the sweater vest to the scarf. Keeping each piece in the same color family and just changing the texture or pattern creates a very sophisticated look.

Denim trends

For men, jeans will always be in fashion. This fall, look for jeans created from distressed denim.

At most retailers, you’ll be able to find a pair of jeans that is worn in all the right places. Whether you are shopping at Gap, where you can find jeans for under $50, or at high-end boutiques, the silhouettes will be relatively the same. Fall 2009 jeans are a relaxed cut that isn’t too skinny or too baggy. You can find jeans in every shade of blue. Remember that darker jeans usually work better for evenings out and Casual Fridays.

Classic fall must-haves

  • Cardigan sweater – Look for a cardigan sweater with a slimmer cut. Skip the bulky cable knits and look for thin fabric that can be worn underneath your jacket or sports coat.
  • Twill pants – Flat-front twill pants are essential in your fall wardrobe. Pick chocolate brown or charcoal gray for fall. You can wear these pants just about anywhere.
  • Wool scarf – Add a touch of sophistication and warmth to any outfit with a high-quality wool scarf. You can wear a scarf with everything, from jeans and a turtleneck to your business suit.
  • Aviator sunglasses – Sunglasses aren’t just for summertime. When the weather cools down, you need to protect your eyes, too. Aviator sunglasses are classic and always on trend. Sunglasses are a must to shield your eyes from the glare of the sun off snow patches and icy roads and sidewalks.

All in all, fall is an exciting time for fashion. The cooler weather brings about more options for everyone. Now is the time to head to your favorite store to get a jump on the fabulous fall fashion for 2009.
